MNHS Spreads Valentine’s Day Smiles Across the Country

Manalapan High School’s SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) spread care, compassion, kindness, and love all across the country this Valentine’s Day with the help of the Brave Community!

Under the direction of Advisor Cara Daniello, SADD collected over 1,500 virtual valentines from nearly 50 different classes and clubs at Manalapan High School. After contacting multiple nursing homes, hospitals, and care centers, SADD emailed the digital valentines. The receiving facilities then printed and distributed the valentines to residents, patients, and frontline workers. Ms. Daniello and SADD Club members were surprised and thrilled when they learned that a Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital where they had sent the cheerful messages forwarded those valentines to every VA facility in the country! SADD’s original goal was to spread 10,000 smiles across New Jersey, but the project quickly evolved into spreading as many smiles as possible wherever possible.

The facilities and hospitals SADD sent valentines include:

  • CentraState Medical Center
  • St. Mary’s Hospital for Children (NY),
  • St. Anthony’s Hospital – Baycare (FL)
  • St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (TN)
  • Sunrise of Marlboro
  • Sunrise of Lincroft
  • The Chelsea at Manalapan
  • Pinebrook Care Center
  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (PA)
  • The Wesley Community (NY)
  • All three of New Jersey’s K. Hovnanian’s Children Hospitals
  • All 170 VA hospitals

The SADD Club would like to thank the school community who helped spread kindness across the country this Valentine’s Day!
