MNHS Students Raise $2,318 for Local Soup Kitchen

The Student Transition Employment Program (STEP) at Manalapan High School raised $2,318 for Feed All God's Children, a non-profit organization that operates a soup kitchen in downtown Freehold every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Students and staff members from Manalapan visited the lunch program, located in the Parish Hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, on December 9th. Students presented the check to Jim Benedict, who runs the non-profit, and then helped serve for the entire lunch period.

Manalapan’s students have raised money for the group the past four years, but this year’s fundraising total was the highest they have ever collected. Teacher Travis Newman said the student volunteers were reflective of their time assisting at the soup kitchen. He described the visit as a very positive experience for both students and staff. Mr. Benedict was very appreciative of the generous donation and the student assistance in serving lunch. Every dollar raised goes directly to the food served each day, he said.
