Four FHS Students Compete in National Level of Girls Go CyberStart Competition
Freehold High School has a team of four young women currently competing in the national level of the Girls Go CyberStart Competition. The team is comprised of senior Erika Tan (who is in the Medical Sciences Magnet Program) and freshmen Lucia Xie, Katrina Bawar, and Areeba Zameer (who are in the Computer Science Magnet Program).
On the morning of June 7th, New Jersey Department of Education Assistant Commissioner Linda Eno, Monmouth County Executive Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lester Richens, and FRHSD Superintendent Dr. Charles Sampson stopped by Freehold High School to meet with the young women and wish them luck in the competition.
According to its website, there is a large shortage of cybersecurity experts in the United States. Girls Go CyberStart encourages high school girls to explore the exciting career opportunities in the field, join the global cybersecurity community and learn skills that will ensure our country offers a safe place to live, work and play online.
