MNHS Sophomore a Winner in the 13th Annual Sister Rose Thering Fund Essay Competition
Manalapan High School’s Sydney Jacobson was recently announced as a winner in the 13th Annual Sister Rose Thering Fund Essay Competition.
Every year, the Sister Rose Thering Fund offers a statewide writing competition for high school students in New Jersey who have viewed and discussed the award-winning documentary Sister Rose's Passion. After watching the film, students write essays addressing the year’s theme and answering one or more of the suggested questions. Sydney, a sophomore, learned about the contest from her English teacher, Whitney Freeman. This year’s theme was “Searching for Answers and Seeking Social Justice.”
An awards ceremony for the winning students will take place as part of the Celebration of Education Spring Reception scheduled for April 16 on the Seton Hall campus. All the award-winning essays will be printed in a souvenir booklet.
