CNHS Unveils New Mathematics Lab

On May 8th, Colts Neck High School hosted a ribbon cutting with OceanFirst Foundation after a grant from the group helped transform a classroom into a Mathematics Lab.

The grant money from OceanFirst Foundation was awarded after Colts Neck administrators applied to the Model Classroom Grant Program. According to the OceanFirst Foundation, the goal of the Model Classroom Grant Program is to support bold and innovative schools that have the vision, creativity, and desire to develop model classrooms for learning. The program is open to all schools (K-12) in the OceanFirst Bank footprint. Grant requests are judged on factors including: the overall quality of the application, the school’s vision for the classroom and the proposed use of funds, creativity, sustainability, the school’s ability to carry out the project, partnerships, the budget and leveraged support, plans for assessment and promotion, student and community involvement and potential for impact on the school community.

Colts Neck’s Dr. Brian Donahue (principal) and Dr. Maria Steffero (supervisor of mathematics and science) were recently featured in Educational Viewpoints discussing the new learning space.
