Business Administration Magnet Program

What options are viable to help combat high unemployment rates? What is the Federal Reserve's role in setting monetary policy and ensuring financial stability? These aren’t the musings of a potential political candidate, but rather are just some of the topics students in the Freehold Regional High School District’s Business Administration Magnet Program tackle.

The Business Administration program, housed at Marlboro High School, offers a four-year program of study for students with an interest in the areas of business and management. The college-level business curriculum includes accounting, management, economics, entrepreneurship, law, and computer technology.

Throughout the school year, guest speakers enrich and enhance the student experience. Guest speakers have included alumni from the Freehold Regional High School District who currently work with Google as well as hedge funds, banks, Major League Baseball, entrepreneurs, and local political leaders. These community business leaders spend time with Business Administration students, providing first-hand industry knowledge. Students gain valuable insight as well as opportunities to network with regional business leaders.

Students are encouraged to apply and immerse themselves within the business program’s extra-curricular activities. Insight will be gained outside the classroom environment through participation in various team challenges sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA).  Some of these challenges include the Euro Challenge, Fed Challenge, and the Consumer Bowl. These competitions engage students, allowing them to find the appropriate resolution to real-life business scenarios. With national awards in both FBLA and DECA, as well as other award-winning team challenges, students build their resumes and participate in activities that allow for personal as well as academic growth. Business Administration students complete award-winning Business Plans which have been showcased at the FDU Rothman Institute Business Idea Competition (1st place), Diamond Challenge Competition (finalist), and NYU Stern Business School $300k Entrepreneurs Challenge (funded by a private investor).  The Business Administration program’s students also earned spots in the 2018 Euro Challenge, where they competed against students from around the country.

In addition to the rigorous academic curriculum, senior students participate in various internships including opportunities with banks, the New York Stock Exchange, local politicians, accounting and legal practices, hedge funds, as well as local businesses.

Upon graduation from the Business Administration Magnet Program students are prepared to attend a college or university with a foundation secured in human relations skills, rigorous academic training, and an appreciation for both social and ethical responsibility. Business Administration students are regularly admitted to prestigious colleges and universities such as Stanford, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, Princeton, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Villanova, NYU, and many others.

Students interested in pursuing a business-related degree will receive a solid foundation to achieve their dreams thanks to the Business Administration Magnet Program.
