According to its website, the New Jersey Governor's School of Engineering & Technology is an intensive residential summer program that brings together some of New Jersey's most talented and motivated high school students. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with two to four students on a novel research project which will be showcased in a conference-style final paper and presentation in front of hundreds of invited guests at a research symposium. Students also participate in life-skills workshops, attend site visits to local corporations, and engage in activities that will help them connect with professors, professionals, and peers from throughout the state. Ben was nominated by the administration at Freehold Township High School for this honor.
The SciTech Summer program at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology is held in Haifa, Israel. Ben is the only male student selected from New Jersey and is one of only 25 students selected from the United States. Students will be attending from countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, China, Brazil, Spain, Canada, and Israel. According to its website, the SciTech Technion program aims to introduce talented teenagers to research activities in science and technology and to build scientific and cultural bridges with students from other countries.
