2017 Halloween Spooktacular
Dozens of Freehold Regional High School District students representing all six high schools translated their haunted Halloween designs from paper to glass onto almost 50 local businesses’ storefront windows for the Halloween Spooktacular Window Painting Contest 2017.
The annual event, which took place on Wednesday, October 18, has been a well-loved tradition in Downtown Freehold for many years.
Federici's Family Italian Restaurant donated pizzas for the students’ lunch while they were hard at work.
A volunteer Spooktacular committee judged the spooky makeovers and determined first, second, and third place awards as well as an honorable mention award. Awards will be presented to the winners at the November 20, Board of Education meeting.
First place went to Freehold Township High School students Emily Almeida and Sarah Fakult for their piece titled “Pin the Ear on Van Gogh,” painted on Sophisticut, Throckmorton Street.
Second place went to Manalapan High School student Joan Kim for her depiction of Snow White with an apple, painted on CVS, W. Main Street.
Third place went to Colts Neck High School students Alex Cavanaugh, Lauren Ettore, and Julianna Hannah for their depiction of a skeleton face with flowing blue and white hair, painted on Two Rivers Bank, E. Main Street.
Honorable Mention went to Freehold High School students Rachel Gewirtz and Gianna Sofocli for their depiction of a masked ballerina, painted on Town Center Dental, South Street.
