Students Benefit from College and Career Fair During Title I Summer Enrichment Session
Getting a jump on the upcoming school year is the focus of students who participate in the Freehold Regional High School District’s Title I Summer Enrichment Session.
Each summer through federal Title I funding, the district offers eligible students the chance to work with teachers to get an early start on the new school year in the topics of math and English. The participating teens, including incoming freshmen, are intent of making the most of the three-day a week program, which is held at Freehold Township High School.
The district partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM), who sends team members from the organization to work with students for a portion of the day, providing post-secondary goal-setting and college and career readiness skills through their “Diplomas to Degrees” curriculum.
This summer, the BGCM organized a College and Career Fair on July 26th. Students were able to speak with representatives from Advantage Career Institute Medical & Dental School, the United States Army Recruitment Center, Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University, Kean University, Ocean County College, and The Salon Professional Academy.
Students flocked around the different tables to learn more about what options are open to them after high school. Based upon student feedback, the event was a worthwhile and successful experience.
Title I programming continues throughout the upcoming academic year at Freehold High School and Freehold Township High School.
