FTHS Teacher Honored as 2022 Emerging PDS Leader

Dr. Angello VillarrealDr. Angello Villarreal, a Spanish teacher at Freehold Township High School, was recently named the recipient of the 2022 Emerging PDS Leader Award (Professional Development School Leader). This national award is given by the National Association of Professional Development Schools. It is based on Dr. Villarreal’s partnership work with and on behalf of Monmouth University, including his participation in the Teacher Residency program, journal publication in PDS Partners, delivery of the PDS conference keynote address as part of a Monmouth team, and serving as a featured speaker for the NAPDS Antiracist Summit at this year’s conference.

Dr. Villarreal graduated from Monmouth University’s doctoral program on January 14th, 2022, and the Master of Arts in Teaching program in 2020. He is an adjunct professor at the university’s School of Education.

“Dr. Villarreal's recognition as an Emerging PDS Leader is well deserved. Angello is a dedicated teacher who gives his all to his profession. We are very lucky to have such an exceptional leader in our district,” Superintendent Charles Sampson said. 

“I am honored to receive this prestigious award and represent Freehold Township High School and the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD). FRHSD has provided me with the best professional development, which has pushed me to be a better educator. Everything I do in the field is for my students, and I am honored to be their teacher,” Dr. Villarreal said.

The award will be presented to Dr. Villarreal at the 2022 NAPDS Annual Conference on February 10th in Chicago.
