FHS Inducts Alumni into the Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame InducteesOn Thursday, June 13, 2024, Freehold High School inducted four new members into the Hall of Fame. The Freehold High School Hall of Fame pays tribute to special people who have distinguished themselves in their lives and careers.

This year's inductees include:

Former Freehold High School Principal, Linda Perro Jewell graduated from Freehold High School in 1968. Her career in education led her back to her alma mater as principal in 2005, a position she served until she retired in 2021. Under her guidance, in 2012 and again in 2016, Freehold High School was recognized by Newsweek and The Daily Beast as one ofAmerica’s Best High Schools.”  In 2015 and again in 2017, The Washington Post acknowledged the school as one ofAmerica’s Most Challenging High Schools.”  In 2020 The U.S. News and World Report posted Freehold High School as one of theBest High Schoolsin New Jersey.  

Gymnast Charles Mongano graduated from Freehold High School in 1961. Charles is considered to be one of the finest male gymnasts ever to compete for the high school.  His team was undefeated 1957-61.

Football and basketball athlete Scott Acker graduated with honors from Freehold High School in 1990. Scott was an active member of the National Honor Society, a standout athlete on three conference championship basketball teams, and an all-shore conference, all-state performer as a football player.

Field hockey athlete Meghan Gibson graduated from Freehold High School in 2009. The Colonials won the Shore Conference B North Division Championship in 2005 and 2007. As team captain in her junior through senior years, Meghan led the team to their first state sectional title in 2007. Meghan was named 1st Team All-Shore, 1st Team All-Group III, and 3rd Team All-State in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, she was also named one of the Asbury Park Press 5 Players to Watch. Meghan was also chosen for the Monmouth County Sportsmanship Award in 2009 for field hockey and softball.
