FRHSD Schools Participate in Virtual Concert Performance

On March 26th, three Freehold Regional High School District school’s participated in Virtual Concert performance with other schools in New Jersey, Maryland, and Ireland.

The participating schools were Freehold High School, Howell High School, Manalapan High School, Long Branch High School, Ocean Township High School, Crisfield High School & Academy in Maryland, and the Le Cheile Secondary School from Dublin, Ireland.

All schools utilized available technology (Google Hangouts) to project into the other schools and remotely interact with each other. Each band performed a short program of prepared repertoire and had an opportunity to exchange ideas with the other participating bands following the performances.

This exchange allowed students the chance to experience another school's approach to similar material, and afforded students a chance to reflect on how they can grow as musicians. All groups also completed a self and peer assessment of the performed music. This unique opportunity allows students to use technology as a tool for their musical development and to see and feel first hand that they are part of a community extending far beyond our school and beyond our shores.
