HHS Peer Leaders Collect Over 800 Coats in Annual Coat Drive
Two classes of Peer Leaders at Howell High School spearheaded the 2018 annual coat drive, collecting 888 coats. For the past few years, the high school has partnered with the New York Giants during the team’s annual coat drive.
Trying to expand the coat drive beyond the walls of their high school, students in Athanasia Gregorakis and Matthew Coulson’s Peer Leadership classes reached out to local businesses to place collection bins around the community. Their efforts were successful with bags filled with coats for men, women, and children being dropped off. The group also partnered with Howell Middle School South’s Student Council Executive Board to reach a wider audience. The middle school dropped off approximately 100 coats. The donated coats will be distributed to families in need around Monmouth County by the New York Giants drive’s organizers.
