Howell High School Receives Authorization to be an International Baccalaureate World School
The Freehold Regional High School District is pleased to announce that Howell High School received its final authorization to become an IB World School. Howell joins fellow district school Freehold Township as one of 17 schools in New Jersey to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP). The Class of 2021 will be the first cohort of IB students at Howell High School.
The IB DP is a two-year course of study in the junior and senior years. The IB DP provides students with an academically challenging and interdisciplinary course of studies, and also prepares students for a rapidly evolving, increasingly global, society. In addition to courses from six core subject groups, IB Diploma students also engage in the DP core, which prompts students to “reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research, and undertake a project that often involves community service” (IBO).
For more information about Howell’s program, please visit the IB DP website.
The Freehold Regional High School District shall provide equal and bias-free access for all pupils to all school facilities, courses, programs, activities, and services, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status.
