Howell High School junior Shane Reitsma was recently featured on CNN as a Positive Athlete for his work in creating “Change the Statistics,” an organization with the goal to help prevent bullying in schools and help individuals who may be dealing with suicidal thoughts.
“Change the Statistics” has gained momentum in Howell High School and encourages students to look out for one another with constant offerings of conversation, support, and kindness to help anyone struggling with bullying, anxiety, and social isolation. They are currently applying for non-profit status.
