FHS Community Comes Together to Support Local Food Bank
The Freehold High School community came together to raise funds for Fulfill Monmouth & Ocean (formerly the FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties) during the annual Empty Bowls event.
Empty Bowls is an international project that helps fight hunger around the world. Student volunteers in art classes at the high school created beautiful ceramic bowls to sell, while culinary students prepared popular soups to sell in the Five Star Café.
Soups prepared by the students included cream of mushroom, mulligatawny, black bean, Jersey tomato, split pea, minestrone, corn chowder, and chicken noodle.
The school’s fundraising efforts brought in $1,100 for Fulfill Monmouth & Ocean. The culinary students also hosted a food drive for the food bank which brought in 300 pounds of canned goods.
