Rick Guter, Freehold Township High School Class of 1982, was recently inducted as the school’s Distinguished Alumnus for 2019.
Following his graduation from Freehold Township, Mr. Guter went on to earn a BS in Physical Education at Arizona State University, a Master’s in Physical Education/Sports Medicine from the University of North Carolina, and a BS in Physical Therapy.
Over his career, Mr. Guter has worked with multiple professional sports organizations including the New York Jets, four Major League Soccer teams and both the Men’s and Women’s US National Teams. He worked with the Men’s National Team during the 2006 World Cup and was the Head Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist for the Women’s National Team during their 2012 Olympic Gold Medal run as well as their 2015 World Cup Championship. Mr. Guter has served as the United States Soccer Federation’s Head Athletic Trainer (1995) and Major League Soccer’s Athletic Trainer Liaison to League Operations (1996-2002). When the United States hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1999 and 2003, Mr. Guter was the Head Athletic Trainer on site for multiple games.
