Manalapan High School is a fully-accredited comprehensive high school serving a community of nearly 38,000 residents living exclusively in the Township of Manalapan and the Borough of Englishtown. One of six high schools in the Freehold Regional High School District, Manalapan High School currently provides educational services for more than 2100 students. Since opening in 1971, Manalapan High School has enjoyed an outstanding reputation throughout the state for its academic and extracurricular programs.
Manalapan High School maintains a well deserved reputation for excellence because of its exceptional students. In2009, of the 460 students who graduated, 97% went on to further their education at two or four year colleges or universities; additionally there are other graduates attending trade or technical schools. Our SAT scores traditionally exceed state and national mean scores, and our academic program consistently produces students who are able to demonstrate success at some of the finest colleges and universities in the nation. The Class of 2009 produced 11 commended students, 4 semi-finalists and 1 finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, as well as 42 Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars.
Our district offers an extensive and comprehensive curriculum to every one of our students. A great deal of emphasis is placed on the infusion of technology into all aspects of the academic program. Such courses as Computer Graphics and Photography, Marine Science, and Sociology provide just a few examples of our extensive elective offerings. In addition, advance placement courses are offered in English, American History, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, World Languages, Economics, Statistics, Studio Art, US Government and Politics, Psychology, and European History. Manalapan also houses the district's Science and Engineering Learning Center and the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Academy.
At Manalapan, we strive to meet the needs of all of our students. College 2+2 programs are available in our Family and Consumer Science and Business Administration and Technology Departments in conjunction with Brookdale Community College and DeVry University. The courses offered allow students the opportunity to earn college credit from these two institutions while still in high school.
The dedicated staff is committed to excellence in the classroom. Their advanced degrees in administration & supervision, counseling or in their specific subject area have given them additional knowledge and skills to help further our school’s mission. They bring to their classroom a dynamic and enthusiastic approach to education that encourages student achievement. Combining the latest in educational theory and practice, our faculty utilizes a variety of teaching and assessment strategies designed to maximize student participation and student success. Continuous and timely professional development programs help keep our staff members abreast of the latest educational theories and methodologies.
Our commitment to excellence extends to the athletic fields and to extracurricular activities as well. The gymnasium walls are proudly adorned with banners from our many A-North Conference, Shore Conference, and State Championships. Additionally, we have been presented with the N.J.S.I.A.A. School Sportsmanship Award thus demonstrating our goal to use athletics to teach positive life skills to our athletic participants. Over 50 different clubs, activities and service organizations provide for the diverse interests of virtually all our students. Our drama department, school yearbook, literary magazine, and school newspaper continually win awards at the local, state, and national levels. Members of the Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) have also distinguished themselves in state and national competitions. Our chess, math, science teams, and marching band, have won many competitions at all levels and have brought proud recognition to our school community. Finally, we are proud to report that we are committed to serve our community as well. Our Student Council adopts families in need and donates food, clothing, and gifts each year. The Manalapan chapter of the National Honor Society not only offers tutoring services, it sponsors an annual toy drive, and holiday food drives. Additionally, they have held Super-Dances to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
As Manalapan High School continues to meet the challenges of the new century, we remain confident and enthusiastic. We are proud of our many accomplishments that reflect the efforts of our fine student body and the excellence of our professional staff.
