AP/Senior Exam Exemption

Advanced Placement Final Examination Exemption

A student in any Advanced Placement course may be exempted from taking the final exam, and will receive an “X” for the final exam grade as long as the student has taken the Advanced Placement exam and achieved a minimum overall average in the course of at least a “B-” at the time of the final exam and has met the attendance requirement listed below. Students in semesterized AP courses who opt-out of a fall semester final examination but fail to sit for the May AP examination must take the final examination or receive an “E” for their final examination grade. 
  

Senior Final Examination Exemption

A senior may be exempted from taking the final exam in a course, and will receive an “X” for the final exam grade as long as the student has achieved a minimum overall average of at least an “A-” in the course at the time of the final exam and has not received any marking period grade or mid-term grade below a “B-” and has met the attendance requirement listed below.

 

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT FOR EXAM EXEMPTION ELIGIBILITY:

Full Year Course or Spring Semester half-year course: to be eligible for Senior exam exemption, IB exam exemption, and/or AP exam exemption, a student must have 13 or less cumulative daily absences (including both excused and unexcused absences) on the day preceding the start of final exams.

Fall semester half-year course: to be eligible for Senior exam exemption, IB exam exemption, and/or AP exam exemption, a student must have 6 or less cumulative daily absences (including both excused and unexcused absences) on the day preceding the start of final exams. 

Senior Health: cannot exceed 3 daily absences if the exam is the end of MP1; 6 daily absences if the exam is the end of MP2; 9 daily absences if the exam is the end of MP3; 13 daily absences if the exam is the end of MP4.
