College Athletic Eligibility (NCAA)
Student athletes who wish to participate in sports their freshman year in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division I or division II college or university must satisfy the initial requirements of the NCAA Clearinghouse. The NCAA has adopted standards related to academic eligibility, and has mandated that students must pass 10 of the 16 required core courses prior to the seventh semester of high school in order to compete in the first year of college.
Please note that not all high school courses and levels in this catalog satisfy requirements for NCAA eligibility, even if they satisfy New Jersey graduation requirements.
For further information about initial NCAA eligibility rules, please view this document from the NCAA. You should also visit the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Please consult with a school counselor for more detailed college athletic eligibility information before choosing a specific academic program.
