  • A segment of the show “Classroom Close-up NJ” that featured Howell High School’s Autism Spectrum Program has been nominated for an Emmy Award. “Classroom Close-up NJ,” a half-hour television program that features innovative projects in New Jersey public schools, airs on NJTV every Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Howell High School Autism Spectrum Program is one of the largest and most supportive high school autism programs in the state, and last year, the show did a feature on its school-wide “Autism Awareness Day.” This special event, which is designed by staff and students, teaches the entire school community acceptance and support by illustrating what it is like to walk in the shoes of a child with autism. The segment was nominated by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of NATAS. The winners will be announced Sept. 9 at a ceremony in Hershey Lodge, PA. The segment can be seen here: http://classroomcloseup.org/segments/autism-awareness-month/"
