Nine FRHSD Seniors Invited to Apply to U.S. Presidential Scholars Program
Nine students from the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) have been invited to apply to the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.
According to its website, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. More than 4,000 candidates have been invited to apply to the 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The application pool will be narrowed down to 800 Semifinalists who will be notified in mid-April of their status. Those accepted as Scholars will be notified in May and invited to Washington, D.C., for several days in June to receive the Presidential Scholars Medallion at a recognition ceremony. Up to 161 students are selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars each year.
