FHS Computer Science Academy Students Win 3rd Consecutive Regional Programming Contest
Five 2-person teams from Freehold High School’s Computer Science Academy recently competed against other 2-person teams in the region at Rowan University.
This is Rowan University’s 30th annual high school programming contest, which gives the most talented computer programmers in the area a chance to compete for prizes, fame, and fun. Participants worked together on their individual solution for 2.5 hours and were responsible for the design and implementation of their solution before submitting their program and its output to be scored by the judges.
The 2-person team of seniors Andrew Ma and Bryce Rubinson took 1st place in the contest. A second Computer Science Academy team consisting of juniors Ryan Cirincione and Joshua Rosenberg took 2nd place in the contest.
Additional FHS Computer Science Academy students who participated in the competition included teams of sophomores Jacqueline Ho and Melissa Hoff, seniors Jared Bass and Michael Vinciguerra, and sophomores Michael Chunko and Salvatore DiMaggio. All teams enjoyed the experience.
The Computer Science Academy at Freehold High School is a four-year program of study for students who wish to explore computer science or computer engineering as a career path. The purpose of the Academy is to provide students with the opportunity to undertake a disciplined approach to the study and application of computer science. Students will develop programming and other technical skills where application of scientific methods will yield the creation of high quality, computer-based solutions to real problems.
