MRHS Students Take Top Prize at Rutgers Model Congress
Over the weekend of April 18th, 32 Marlboro High School students participated in Rutgers Model Congress, a government simulation, in which students take on the roles and responsibilities of Congressmen to develop and shape public policy.
Six years ago, the club was formed by a group of AP government students in Social Studies teacher Eric Yang's class who truly wanted to put their textbook knowledge into practice.
During the weekend event, Marlboro’s team won the top prize, Best High School Delegation, which is an honor given to the highest performing high school in the competition. This is the second time in three years that Marlboro’s team has achieved this milestone.
The team held practices early in the morning from September to April to prepare for the conference. Most of the competing teams have high school classes and curriculums to prepare their students for the conference.
The Best High School Delegation team consisted of seniors Saher Bajwa, Jamie Richards and Brandon Hanley.
Marlboro also took home the second place honor of Outstanding Delegation. This team had senior Alex Kubie, senior Max Rodenborn and sophomore Josh Levy.
Marlboro students also took home honors in the Most Improved category.
