HSPA Preparation Documents and Test Prep Sessions

By MNHS - Posted on 23 February 2012

The HSPA is a state test given to students in the eleventh grade to measure whether they have gained the knowledge and skills identified in the Core Curriculum Content Standards. Students who enter the eleventh grade on or after September 1, 2011, must pass the HSPA as a graduation requirement. On March 6, 7, and 8, 2012, all first-time eleventh-grade students will take the HSPA and receive test scores in Mathematics and Language Arts Literacy. The results are also used to satisfy federal requirements under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).

Parent assistance is crucial to your child’s successful completion of all graduation requirements. Please encourage them to work on some practice HSPA problems at home and to continue to complete their homework and study for their tests and quizzes. As their skills improve, they will feel greater confidence in their ability to take even more challenging classes. Your child depends on you for direction. The constant support and encouragement that you, as a parent, provide allows your child to grow into a successful and mature adult. Together with the instruction and preparation that our students receive at school and the help and guidance that you provide at home, we am certain that all of our students will perform to their best ability on the March 2012 administration of the NJ HSPA.

Attached to this post, you will find a copy of the March 2012 “HSPA Student Preparation Booklet” and “Your Guide to the HSPA.” These materials have also been emailed to you from Naviance and posted on the guidance department home page which can be accessed via our school web site: www.frhsd.com/freeholdtwp.

In addition, we will be offering several after school sessions to aid your child in HSPA test preparation.

Math HSPA review will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 2:10 pm in room D225.

English HSPA review will be held Tuesday Feb 28, at 2:10 pm in room C100.
