Dr. Suzanne Koegler Appointed Acting Superintendent of Schools
On June 21, 2010, the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education appointed Dr. Suzanne Muller Koegler Acting Superintendent of Schools. She will replace Superintendent James Wasser, who will retire June 30, 2010.
Dr. Koegler first joined the Freehold Regional High School District in 2002, serving as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. In late 2007, she became Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
Dr. Koegler began her career in education in 1986 at Hudson County Community College, in Jersey City, as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. From 1991 to 1993, she taught computer technology, American language writing, and served as an ESL instructor at Bergen County Community College, in Paramus, NJ. From 1994 to 1996, she taught computer research and writing and served as an ESL instructor at Kean University, in Union, NJ.
Also, from 1987 to 1997, Dr. Koegler served and taught in a variety of roles in Union City, NJ: 8th grade science instructor, 5th grade advanced bilingual classroom; 5th grade monolingual classroom; ESL teacher; curriculum and technology development; instructor of adult education, and ESL evening school.
From 1997 to 2002, Dr. Koegler worked for the Manville Board of Education, in Manville, NJ, as an instructor of adult ESL classes and computer & technology courses before becoming Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Technology and Assessment.
Dr. Koegler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from William Paterson College, in Wayne, NJ; a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the Rutgers University School of Education, in New Brunswick, NJ; a Master of Arts in the Department of English/Linguistics from the New York University School of Education in New York City; and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Department of Teaching and Learning, also from the New York University School of Education in New York City.
