Work-Based Learning Program Cooperative Education Code of Ethics

By FTHS - Posted on 14 June 2012

The student code of ethics is a contract in which a student enrolled in the Work-Based Learning Program (Cooperative education) must adhere to throughout the school year. Failure to adhere to the code of ethics may cause an infraction in the program and may result in the dismissal from the program, with my jeopardize graduation.

Study the Code of Ethics that are expected of each student enrolled in the Work-Based Learning Program. After you have read them, sign your name and have your parent/guardian sign their name as well to indicate that you both understand the code of ethics and agree to adhere to them.

• I will leave the school building at the time indicated on my schedule and not linger around in the building
• If I don’t come to school on a given day, I know that I am not allowed to report to work on the same day, unless approved by Mr. Schneck or the FTHS Administration
• If I am suspended from school, I may not go to work
• I understand that my attendance in school is a reflection of my cooperative education grade. If my attendance exceeds the district’s guidelines, then I will be removed from the program and lose credit for the course
• I will be an honest employee and will not lie, cheat or steal from my training station
• I will not quit my job without the consent of Mr. Schneck. If I do, I understand that I will receive a failing grade for the cooperative education component of the marking period
• If I lose my job because of economic conditions in the workplace, I know that I will have two weeks to find other employment. At the same time, Mr. Schneck will put me on an alternative plan which will force me to remain in school until the end of the school day
• If I am unemployed, I will be given a full-time schedule (cut off dates – 10/1 and 12/23)
• I will give Mr. Schneck a schedule of my hours once a week so that he may observe me at any given time
• I will complete a wage and hour sheet once a pay period and turn in a pay stub or photocopy of a pay stub
• I will transport myself to and from work each and every day and nor rely on other resources
• I will do my best to be a perfect employee in every situation, as my employer will be conducting monthly evaluations on my performance
• If my grades fall below a passing average, Mr. Schneck will meet with my employer, my parent/guardian to create a plan of action and possibly cutting my weekly work hours
